The gift of giving

I give a bit of my time and what I receive is beyond words. I'm touched, I'm blessed and I'm humbled. When you give without expecting something back, you always receive in abundance but if you give to gain something you only set your self up for disappointment.
In giving, we receive
These words, that in a way was a start of this blog, comes from Snatam Kaur's song Servant of Peace and just now trying to find the lyrics I realised it was a prayer, the prayer of Sant Francis:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Listen to Servant of Peace by Snatam Kaur.
